The Mission of SuffolkFirst Bank is to be recognized as a leader in our community by focusing on personal service to our customers, while maintaining competitive rates on deposits and loans, and building shareholder value for our investors. SuffolkFirst Bank will focus on all segments of the community’s financial needs by offering superior financial services and various financial products to assist consumers and small to medium sized businesses in meeting their financial objectives. Our pledge is to treat each customer with courtesy and respect, and to provide superior service and solutions, regardless of the transaction size. The Board of Directors will closely monitor the ethnic and economic indicators to determine the level of success the Bank has achieved in meeting the financial needs of the community.
Our History
In the summer of 2001, Suffolk’s hometown community bank merged with a large interstate and statewide bank. As a result, local business professionals met and committed to organize a locally owned and managed bank, to bring hometown banking back to Suffolk. The organizing group formalized plans and incorporated in December 2001 and in December 2002 received approval from the Bureau of Financial Institutions, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the Federal Insurance Corporation to open for business as SuffolkFirst Bank.
On January 27, 2003, SuffolkFirst Bank opened one retail office in the central City of Suffolk with Darrell G. Swanigan leading the bank forward as President and CEO. In February 2004, a second full service retail branch also in the central City of Suffolk was opened and in October 2007 the Bank opened its headquarters and retail branch in North Suffolk.
